A torchbearer is a person who leads or inspires.
Olympic torchbearers have to carry the torch from one city to hand it over to the next. The torch is used to light the Olympic Flame at the end of this relay.
Individuals who are chosen to carry the torch are people of accomplishment, who the host country is proud to show off.
Torchbearers are people that others would want to emulate, they are role models. It is a great honour to be chosen to carry the Olympic Torch.
